Warm holiday greetings and our very best wishes for a joyful, healthy, and peaceful festive season!
As we approach the end of the year, we would like to pause and reflect on the many rewarding activities and meaningful connections that have shaped the AEMI network over the past months.
The conference in Essen marked an important milestone, demonstrating how examining migration through the intersecting lenses of gender and generation brings into focus both enduring inequalities and moments of social transformation.
The conference fostered new interdisciplinary connections, strengthened collaboration among participants, and attracted growing interest from new institutions. We extend our sincere thanks to our host, the Ruhr Museum, and to everyone who contributed to the engaging discussions, reflections, and ideas that emerged.
In recent months, we have received a number of compelling submissions for the annual AEMI journal and now look forward to beginning the review process. Reflecting the spirit of the conference, these contributions demonstrate a strong interdisciplinary commitment to understanding migration not only as movement, but as lived experience; not only as history, but as an evolving social reality.
We wish you another year of fruitful collaboration and inspiration and look forward to reconnecting with you all in Sweden in 2026.
With warm regards on behalf of the AEMI Board
Cathrine Kyø Hermansen
