CGM study day: ‘Female migrant workers in the Low Countries

On Thursday 27 February 2025,  the CGM will organize its annual study day in Leuven , this time with the theme: “Female labor migration in the Low Countries” . We will look for experiences of female labor migrants in Belgium and the Netherlands, both from the past and in the present.

We use a broad definition of labour: not only paid work, but also unpaid labour and activities within the informal economy are discussed. Our study day offers a platform to share stories, research and practical examples that bring this often underexposed theme to life.

In addition to traditional presentations, we also organize a poster session , where students, researchers, heritage workers and policymakers can explain ongoing projects. Are you doing research, do you have a project or insights that fit within this theme? Or do you know someone who can make a valuable contribution? We cordially invite you to register. Send an e-mail to  sofie.de.baere@iisg.knaw.nl  and briefly tell us something about yourself and your project.

We look forward to your contribution and hope to welcome you to our study day in Leuven!
