La Cité de la Mer (France)

 

La Cité de la Mer is an historic, scientific and technical complex open to the public since 2002. Facing the largest artificial harbour in the world, La Cité de la Mer is spread over a site of great architectural and historical importance covering several hectares with three main focal areas :
– the Permanent Exhibitions Hall and its aquariums ;
– the largest visitable submarine in the world Le Redoutable ;
– the Cherbourg’s old transatlantic passenger terminal, an Art déco building which houses since April 2012 a new 2,500-square-metre permanent exhibition dedicated to the transatlantic and emigration history of the port of Cherbourg and the Titanic’s call at Cherbourg on April 10th 1912.
